Join me for a relaxed afternoon of wax sculpting to create your own unique silver piece using the lost wax technique. I will guide you through the creation of your dream piece of jewellery as we chat, sip and bite. Make it a date afternoon with your partner, friends or yourself.

Duration: 3 h
Fees: 95 euro
Maximum partecipants: 6
Entry Level: no knowledge of goldsmithing is necessary, everyone is welcome!
Address: Rua da Boavista 84, Porto, Portugal (MACS Artistic and Cultural Association)

Wax sculpting is a slow and gentle activity that requires calm and dedication. Once you get into the flow you will be surprised at the results you can achieve.

Come with one or two ideas, either in a sketchbook, on your phone or in your mind, and be prepared to adapt your ideas to the medium.

By the end of the course you will have a complete idea of what the process of making a piece of jewellery through the lost-wax technique is and you will be able to turn your ideas into reality by creating the wax for your jewellery from scratch.

Timing
After the workshop, your wax model will be cast in silver 925, and polished and finished by me. Your piece will be ready to pick up at the studio in approximately 3 weeks.

Shipping
If instead of coming to collect your creation at the studio you prefer it to be sent, there is an extra cost for insured shipping (€8 for Portugal and Spain, €14 for Europe, €20 for International) to be paid on the day of the workshop.

Price 95 €

All tools and materials used during the course are included. The price covers the casting of one silver piece weighing up to 10 grams or two pieces weighing up to 4 grams each. • up to 4 grams more: €6 additional per piece

Ring Size Guide

All rings sizes present on the website are shown in Portuguese scale measurement.

Measuring Your Ring Size at Home:

You can easily measure your ring size with just a few common household items. Here’s how:

  1. What You’ll Need:

    • A strip of paper or a piece of string (non-stretchy material works best).
    • A ruler (millimeters for accuracy).
    • A pen or pencil.
  2. Steps to Measure:

    • Wrap the paper or string around the base of your finger where you would normally wear the ring. Make sure it fits snugly but isn’t too tight.
    • Mark the point where the two ends meet.
    • Lay the string or paper flat and measure the length with a ruler in millimeters.
    • Use the chart below to find your corresponding ring size.

Tip: Measure your finger at the end of the day, when it’s likely to be the largest. Avoid measuring when your hands are cold, as fingers tend to shrink in size.

Additional Tips for Finding the Right Size:

    • Finger Size Changes: Your fingers can change size slightly throughout the day or due to factors like temperature, activity, or time of year. It’s best to measure when your fingers are warm (not cold), and preferably in the afternoon when they’ve reached their fullest size.

    • Wide Bands: If you're ordering a wide ring band, you may want to go half a size larger to ensure a comfortable fit. Wider bands tend to feel tighter than thin bands.

    • Existing Ring Measurement: If you already own a ring that fits perfectly, you can measure the inside diameter of that ring. Then, match the diameter to the chart above to find your size.

    Professional Sizing:

If you're unsure about your measurements or want extra peace of mind, we recommend visiting a local jeweler for a professional sizing, especially if you’re purchasing a custom or significant piece like an engagement or wedding ring.
